However, they seem to be bigger than ever, headlining festivals everywhere, picking up solid critical respect amongst most reputable music sources, and they are idolised amongst my young British age group. Alex Turner's lyrics have gotten a bit pretentious, the band don't have that same rough-and-tumble Libertines charm that they did initially, the music itself seems a little uninspired. However, I haven't really noted any progression from that point onwards. I also like their second album to a lesser extent (Teddy Picker and Brianstorm are great). I was a big fan of their debut album when I was younger- Riot Van and A Certain Romance were beautiful songs, with mature instrumentation and thoughtful lyrics. I genuinely don't want to be a dick here, as I do think the band is talented.
